The Science and Education Library (SEL) is found at the Busitema University Nagongera Campus located in Nagongera Town Council, Tororo district 26 Kms from Tororo town.
The library was constructed in 2003 with support from Merykens for the NTC which Busitema University inherited during her inception in 2007. The first Campus Librarian was Mr. Muhumuza Medard Emmy who presided over the library until his retirement.
The library serves over 1000 undergraduate and graduate students of programmes offered at the faculty both at Nagongera and at the study center in Tororo town in the areas of Agriculture, Biology, Chemistry, Computer Studies, Education, Geography, Mathematics, Physics as well as Space science.
The Science and Education library is located on the Alice Makoola building which also houses the office of the Dean of the Faculty. The library is housed in a single rectangular room measuring approximately 12 meters wide by 26.5 meters long.
The library has favorable and conducive reading and research spaces as well as Computer workstations for users.
The library is open 08:00 am to 10:00 pm Monday to Friday and 08:00 am to 06:00 pm on Saturday and Sunday. The library remains closed on all designated public holidays.

Located at the Makoola house building housing the administration offices as well, the library is accessible and uniquely positioned to serve as an information hub for the university community.

Busitema University Faculty of science & Education (FSE) Camus library arranges books following the e Dewey Decimal Classification (DDC) scheme which subdivides knowledge in 10 main subject classes. The DDC scheme is used to assign Call Numbers which are used to organize and arrange books on the shelves.
The Dewey Decimal classification system groups together books on similar subjects by means of their class numbers. There are 10 main Dewey Decimal classifications classes as follows:
000 Computer Science, Information, & General Works
100 Philosophy & Psychology
200 Religion
300 Social Sciences
400 Language
500 Science
600 Technology (Applied sciences)
700 Arts & Recreation
800 Literature
900 History & Geography
At the FSE Campus Library, the DDC call number is made up of TWO elements which include the DDC class Number, and the Book Number.
Examples:
372 SSE Where
372 is DDC class number for Primary Education (Elementary education)
SSE is the Book number
658.8 KOT where:
658.8 is DDC class number for Marketing
KOT is Book Number

The Busitema University adopts the use of Turnitin antiplagiarism software to detect plagiarism by way of matching similarity indices. Contact us to help you learn more about antiplagiarism using Turnitin software.
