1. Library Registration & User Accounts

How can I confirm that I have been successfully registered with the library?

You can confirm your library registration in two ways:

  • Speak to your campus librarian during registration to confirm that the process was completed successfully.
  • Visit the library catalogue at https://libcat.busitema.ac.ug/, click Log in to your account, and use the login details provided by the librarian.

  3. Enter the username and password provided during library registration.
For students who registered online, how can we log in to our library accounts?

Visit the library catalogue at https://libcat.busitema.ac.ug/ and log in using the details provided after registration. If you do not have login details, contact your campus librarian or library staff.

I received my library password but I am unsure how to log in and start reading online books. What should I do?
  1. Visit https://libcat.busitema.ac.ug/.
  2. Click Log in to your account.
  3. Enter your username and password.
  4. After logging in, you can monitor your library account, search the catalogue, browse course reserves, and access links to e-journals and databases.
I submitted my library registration form, but I still cannot access the system online. What should I do next?

Please visit your campus library and ask the library staff to confirm your registration status. Students are encouraged not to leave the registration desk until their registration is complete and login details have been issued.

The system rejected my image during registration. What should I do?

Share the image with your campus librarian so that they can help configure it for the library system. This process usually takes a short time.

My password is not working on the SemperTool icon. Could you assist me?
  • Ensure that you are using the correct username and password.
  • Check for capital letters, spaces, or typing errors.
  • If the problem continues, share your username, institutional email, registration number, and contact with the library for password reset support.

2. Accessing Books, E-Books & Reading Materials

How can I access books that match my personal interests?

Visit the library catalogue at https://libcat.busitema.ac.ug/ and search using keywords or subjects related to your interest. You can also visit the library website at https://library.busitema.ac.ug/ and use the research guides to find relevant materials.

As a first-year student, am I eligible to access online books?

Yes. First-year students are eligible to access online books and e-resources.

How can I obtain reading materials?

The library provides both print and electronic reading materials. Print materials are available in campus libraries, while electronic resources can be accessed through the library website and catalogue.

How can I access a book on Financial Accounting?
  • Visit the Business or Accounting section of the library with help from a librarian.
  • Search the library catalogue using keywords such as Financial Accounting or Principles of Accounting.
  • Ask the librarian to guide you on available electronic books.
How can I access the book “The Medical Profession and Human Rights: Handbook for a Changing Agenda”?

I would like to access a book on AI tools used in medical education. What should I do?

Search for the book through the library catalogue at https://libcat.busitema.ac.ug/. If the book is not available, you can request it through the Document Delivery Service or through the Ask a Librarian portal.

How can I log in to an Open Access platform?

First identify the open access platform you want to use, such as DOAJ or DOAB. Some open access platforms do not require login because their resources are freely available to all users.

What are the best sources for excelling in Physics?

Yes. The library has physical books such as Machine Learning and Artificial Intelligence: A Guide to Intelligent Systems. 4. Research Support & Scholarly Communication

How can I begin developing a research topic?
  1. Identify a broad area of interest related to your field of study.
  2. Conduct preliminary reading using books, theses, dissertations, and journal articles.
  3. Identify gaps, unanswered questions, or problems in the literature.
  4. Narrow the broad area into a specific research topic.
  5. Develop a research problem that your study will address.
How can I access research papers?

How can I access a complete dissertation?
  • Fill in the Dissertation Document Delivery request form on the library website.

  • Visit the reference desk and sign for a hardcopy dissertation on short loan.
Where are final-year student projects posted?

Final-year student projects are posted in the Busitema University Institutional Repository, also known as BUOADIR.

How can I check my work for plagiarism?

Busitema University uses Turnitin for plagiarism checking. To use Turnitin, you need an account created using your name and institutional email address.

Please contact your campus librarian for help setting up a Turnitin account and guidance on how to use it.

5. Borrowing & Course Reserve Services

Why are some course reserve materials not accessible?

Some course reserve materials may still be under development. If a course reserve is not opening, please contact your campus librarian and provide the specific course reserve title for support.

Is it possible to borrow books from the library during the night?

Yes. Students may borrow books whenever the library is open, provided they are fully registered library users. However, borrowing should be done at least 30 minutes before closing time.

6. Academic Support & Student Services

How can I obtain a Busitema University student email address?
When are the Mature Age Entry Scheme examinations usually conducted?

Busitema University does not conduct Mature Age Entry Scheme examinations. However, the University conducts pre-entry examinations for diploma holders intending to join medical courses, usually between April and May every year.

Can medical education students access past examination papers online through the library?

Currently, past examination papers are not available online through the library. The library is developing a system to make this possible in the future. However, students can access physical past papers from their campus library.

Does Busitema University offer distance learning programmes?

Yes. Busitema University offers distance learning through the Open, Distance and e-Learning system. This allows students to study online or remotely without attending physical classes daily.

7. Library Events, Activities & Engagement

I was informed that I need to create and upload a video related to a quiz. Is this part of the procedure?

The library sometimes organizes events where students and stakeholders are encouraged to participate. Students may be asked to record a short video about the event theme, quiz process, experience, or general knowledge. These videos can be submitted through campus librarians or library social media platforms.
