January 19, 2026 | Busitema University
In response to the University’s shift to fully online teaching and learning from January 20 to February 6, 2026, the Busitema University Library has issued detailed guidance to all library staff to ensure continuous and enhanced support for students, faculty, and researchers during this period.
An internal memorandum, dated January 19, 2026, from the University Librarian outlines a coordinated strategy to maintain seamless access to digital academic resources while upholding the library’s role as a central hub of academic support.
Key Focus Areas for Library Staff
The guidance highlights several critical areas where library personnel across all campuses will concentrate their efforts:
- Promoting Digital Resources:Staff are encouraged to actively raise awareness of the library’s comprehensive online suite, including the library website, online catalogue, electronic reserves (e-reserves), subject guides, and the real-time Ask A Librarian chat reference service.
- Providing Technical and Research Assistance:Library teams will offer direct support to users experiencing difficulties with remote access, database navigation, e-book retrieval, and login issues. Basic troubleshooting will be available, with escalation paths for more complex technical problems.
- Optimizing the Ask A Librarian Service:The chat service will be closely monitored to ensure prompt and helpful responses, with staff logging frequent queries to improve future support.
- Collaborating with Faculty:A proactive approach will be taken to assist academic staff in preparing and uploading course-specific materials to the e-reserves system, ensuring required readings are accessible digitally.
- Maintaining Physical Accessibility:While instruction moves online, campus library spaces will remain open to provide a conducive study environment and limited in-person assistance, ensuring all users feel supported.
- Enhancing Internal Coordination:Staff are directed to report challenges and user feedback to their Campus Librarians regularly and to participate in virtual meetings to stay aligned with University-wide objectives.
“Your role is crucial in ensuring uninterrupted access to academic resources,” the University Librarian stated. “By working together, we can ensure that every student and staff member continues to have the resources and support they need to succeed academically.”
This structured approach underscores the library’s commitment to facilitating an uninterrupted academic programme and reaffirms its readiness to support the Busitema University community through adaptable and user-centered services.
