Library User Stories is a storytelling initiative created to highlight the real experiences of students and other members of the Busitema University community as they use the library. The project gives a voice to our users by allowing them to share how the library supports their learning, research, and personal growth.
Through short video interviews, participants speak openly about:
- How often they use the library and for what purposes
- What they appreciate most about the library
- Memorable experiences they have had while using the library
- How library services both physical and digital have supported their academic journey
- The resources they find most useful
- Their suggestions for improving library services
- Why they believe every student should make use of the library
Atukwase Bruce pursing a Bachelors of Science in Water Resources Engineering from Busitema University main campus shares his user experience with the Busitema University Library
My name is Atukwase Bruce I'm doing WAR year 1, I'm a student of Busitema University, Busitema campus.
How often do you use the Busitema University Library and for what purpose?
Generally I use the library daily except when it is closed like on Sundays. Like Sundays in the morning but yeah, I use it often.
What do you like most about the library?
The access it gives us to internet most especially like the WIFI and the E-learning, ask the library feature on the website, the books you find on the internet which was not there in the past.
Can you share a memorable experience you have had in the library?
The best experience I have had so far, I came one day and I wanted to borrow a book but I found that the book I wanted was very big but to my surprise, I was told that I can find it on the internet. So they gave me the book so now I can take it everywhere I want minus coming back now to borrow the hard copy of the book.
How has the library supported your academic or research work?
We as campus students generally they give us assignments like daily and now we do many course units. I do seven course units so you find that with each course unit, it has assignments daily. Now the library comes to our help like we have to come and do the assignments, come and and do research of which we have the internet and it is of help generally.
Which library service or resource do you find most useful?
The WIFI. You see now the way we are studying, they give you assignments where you find minus going to the internet, you can't get it anywhere else. You find like the text books we have they become complicated that you have now to go and look for the easiest versions on the internet like Youtube.
If you could suggest one improvement, what would it be?
I think the time should be extended for us who stay in the the halls. You see when it clocks 10 or 10:30 pm, they close the library and yet we go and make noise in the halls. For me I think they should extend the time maybe to midnight, we are campus guys.
