Library User Stories is a storytelling initiative created to highlight the real experiences of students and other members of the Busitema University community as they use the library. The project gives a voice to our users by allowing them to share how the library supports their learning, research, and personal growth.
Through a short video interview, Sentudde Ibrahim speaks openly about:
- How often he uses the library and for what purposes
- What he appreciates most about the library
- Memorable experiences he has had while using the library
- How library services both physical and digital have supported his academic journey
- The resources he finds most useful
- His suggestions for improving library services
- Why he believes every student should make use of the library
Sentudde Ibrahim shares his experience with the Busitema University library as he highlights the recently concluded Open Access Quiz.
I am by the names of Sentudde Ibrahim pursuing a Bachelor's in Water Resources Engineering year 2 Busitema University Main campus.
How often do you use the Busitema University Library and for what purpose?
I often use it everyday basically for revision purposes and discussion purposes like during the night shift and during the day when I'm free.
What do you like most about the library?
What I like most about the library is the conducive environment for example the silent discussion rooms and the reading area where by I go and I read for my own self and incase of discussions I call my friends, we meet in the discussion rooms and we discuss from there.
Can you share a memorable experience you have had in the library.
Basically, one of my memorable experiences is the Open Access Quiz in such a way that we managed to acquire certain certificates and also interacted with people from the outside community, those are the farmers and other people who do certain businesses around Shaule, a village near Busitema Main campus.
How has the library supported your academic or research work?
As I told you, we come and discuss from the library. We also meet the librarians whom we ask certain questions about the academics and how to use the library so they have helped us most.
Which library service or resource do you find most useful?
The discussion rooms and reading areas and maybe the librarians whom I ask certain questions and they give me answers about my academics.
Has the digital library or online resources helped you in any way?
Basically I have not checked about it. I last checked about it when we had just reported here when they told us to log in into the library account but most cases I don't use it. Like the resources I'm using are kind of enough for example the books and some pdf's from the lecturers so the resources are kind of enough for now.
If you could suggest one improvement, what would it be?
The first thing for the improvement is though there AC's in the E learning area, we also need some conditioners in other areas for example the reading areas because at times the temperatures are high when all of us want to read from the reading areas which are not enough basically.
Why do think every student should use the library?
For the conducive environment, discussions, reading purposes and research.
