Library User Stories is a storytelling initiative created to highlight the real experiences of students and other members of the Busitema University community as they use the library. This project gives a voice to our users by allowing them to share how the library supports their learning, research, and personal growth.
Through a short video interview, Ayela Patrick Ojok speaks openly about:
- How often he uses the library and for what purposes
- What he appreciates most about the library
- Memorable experiences he has had while using the library
- How library services both physical and digital have supported his academic journey
- The resources he finds most useful
- His suggestions for improving library services
- Why he believes every student should make use of the library
My name is Ayela Patrick Ojok I am student at Busitema University, I am pursuing a Bachelor's in Computer Engineering and I'm in my 4th year.
How often do you use the Busitema University Library and for what purpose?
I actually use the Busitema library every time almost everyday because here we use it even on Saturday and Sunday and purpose is I come here to read and to access somethings via internet and also on the library website I can access some things to read from maybe the text books and so on.
What do you like most about the library?
I like to revise because there are some books that are there and the most important thing there is a lot of things that we can access online from there (library website).
Can you share a memorable experience you have had in the library?
Ok for the 4 years that I have been here the experience which I have ever enjoyed here was the Open Access that was held this year. Well it was my first experience and we learnt a lot through it, learnt how to share knowledge, learnt how to let others learn from us as we also learn from others so it was a great experience.
How has the library supported your academic or research work?
The library has really really helped me because most times you find that alongside having the textbooks and the good internet that we use, I also find it so conducive for the reading purposes because it provides a quiet environment.
Which library service or resource do you find most useful?
Actually right from the year I joined here, I started by reading the text books then more so we used to access them online so those are the most reliable services I really like so much and then also the internet that I always use here, those are some of the services.
Has the digital library or online resources helped you in any way?
Yes it has helped me so much. Right now that I'm doing a final year projects, there are some things that we access online that really help to guide us in the project.
If you could suggest one improvement, what would it be?
What I can really recommend is making most of the textbooks online so that we can access most of them because it is really helpful and I also suggest that we could improve on the internet because some times it can slow down. I request the librarian if possible they could make sure that the internet in the library is as fast as possible so that it is faster when you are accessing the digital textbooks.
Why do think every student should use the library?
Well to me I find that it is a very conducive environment and also when things fail as you are reading maybe your notes, you can really access a book and then it guides you through.
