Library User Stories is a storytelling initiative created to highlight the real experiences of students and other members of the Busitema University community as they use the library. The project gives a voice to our users by allowing them to share how the library supports their learning, research, and personal growth.
Through a short video interview, Ahebwa Luke speaks openly about:

Ahebwa Luke is a Water Resources Engineering student from Busitema University in his second year. He shares his Library User experience with us.

How often do you use the Busitema University Library and for what purpose?
At least I come here once or twice a day that is per week for reading, research assignments, basically that.
What do you like most about the library?
The Internet, internet is fast at least that is for sure and then silence. At least if you want to concentrate, you can rely on the library.
Can you share a memorable experience you have had in the library?
Tests. If the numbers are big, we use the library for convenience and the library has availed us space and that convenience to do our tests.
How has the library supported your academic or research work?
The research that we do currently, some lecturers provide you with assignments that require you to look for projects that have been done and if you reach out to the library, they provide us with these projects that have been done previously on email and you can be able to refer.
Which library service or resource do you find most useful?
I think it would be reading areas. yeah reading areas because I personally don't over dwell in text books and so on.
Has the digital library or online resources helped you in any way?
Yes, incase you don't really want to reach out to access any resource physically, at least you can access it on a digital platform for those that have actually registered for them.
If you could suggest one improvement, what would it be?
It disturbs a lot to keep signing day in day out, even when you move out, you find a new library attendant who will again tell you to sign in. So I think that should be digitalized. The internet may be good but at least it should be faster because at times we come and internet is really slow because of congestion. In some areas it is slow especially the ground floor, internet is slow and yet the top floor internet is fast so I think it should be balanced.
Why do think every student should use the library?
Ok it is easier to access resources from here for any purposes and for any research and activities that you want to do. It is at least easier to access as long as you have an email and you reach out, they(the library) will provide at least in my experience.
