Library User Stories is a storytelling initiative created to highlight the real experiences of students and other members of the Busitema University community as they use the library. The project gives a voice to our users by allowing them to share how the library supports their learning, research, and personal growth.
Through short video interviews, participants speak openly about:
- How often they use the library and for what purposes
- What they appreciate most about the library
- Memorable experiences they have had while using the library
- How library services both physical and digital have supported their academic journey
- The resources they find most useful
- Their suggestions for improving library services
- Why they believe every student should make use of the library
Wambassa Geoffrey a Water Resources Engineering student from Busitema University talks us through his experiences with the Busitema University Library.
My name is Wambassa Geoffrey, I'm studying a Bachelor's of Water Resources Engineering, year 2 Busitema main campus.
How often do you use the Busitema University library and for what purpose?
I use the Busitema library almost everyday and the reason behind this is because of the knowledge I want to supplement on with what I already know.
What do you like most about the library?
In particular at the circulation desk, they are always ready to serve me cause whatever book I have requested, I have at least got it.
Do you have any memorable experiences while using this library?
For the past two years I have been here, just of recent we had an Open Access Event where I happened to participate. It was really a nice experience because it was my first time. I obtained vast knowledge about information access where hindrances like paywalls are encountered. I didn't know how they could come about but I came to learn that.
How has the library supported your academic or research work?
My research work has been enabled most especially with this streaming WIFI. I'm able to google search any information that I'm willing to learn anytime.
Which library service or resource do you find most useful?
The most resourceful point is the E-learning because internet is very stable and at anytime, information is accessed.
Has the digital library or online resources helped you in any way?
Yes they have helped me since the important thing is information research that builds the Engineering and technology advancements, I'm really enjoying so much.
If you could suggest one improvement, what would it be?
No, I think the rest are ok.
Why do you think every student should use the library?
In fact every student should use the library because we need to do research and without internet connection, the textbooks alone are not enough. We need to acquire wide knowledge from all corners so this can be through internet, through textbooks, through journals and newspapers and this is how we can obtain vast knowledge from the library resources.
