IEEE Xplore to Host Free Webinar on Effective Research Search Strategies

21 October 2026

Researchers, students, lecturers and information professionals will have an opportunity to strengthen their literature-search skills during a free IEEE Xplore webinar scheduled for Thursday, 12 November 2026, at 8:00 p.m. East African Time.

The online session, titled IEEE Xplore Webinar: Search Strategies to Supercharge Your Research Experience, will introduce participants to practical techniques for finding reliable scholarly information, improving search results and making better use of the IEEE Xplore Digital Library.

Organised by IEEE, the webinar will demonstrate how researchers can identify peer-reviewed publications, develop search strategies suited to their fields and locate influential research papers. Participants will also explore new features and publications available through the digital library, including tools for discovering research in artificial intelligence, machine learning, blockchain and renewable energy.

A key area of discussion will be research integrity when using artificial intelligence. Participants will learn the importance of verifying AI-generated information and citations against original scholarly publications, particularly as AI-assisted tools become increasingly common in academic research.

These skills are particularly relevant to Busitema University students and researchers undertaking literature reviews, developing research proposals and preparing scholarly publications. Students investigating artificial intelligence or renewable energy technologies, for example, can benefit from learning how to identify relevant studies, assess their credibility and follow developments in their respective fields.

The webinar will also demonstrate how to create saved search alerts, track publications by leading authors and discover research through IEEE Xplore's Image Search feature. Participants will learn how to download equations and graphics from articles, providing additional support when analysing technical publications.

Such features can assist lecturers in identifying recent literature for teaching and research, while librarians can apply the search techniques when guiding students and researchers towards relevant academic resources.

The one-hour session will consist of a 45-minute presentation followed by a 15-minute live question-and-answer segment, during which attendees will have an opportunity to seek clarification directly from the presenters.

Participation is free, and interested members of the Busitema University community are encouraged to register in advance.
