As we expand the engagement of the FSE Library with its users, the 25th of November 2022 was yet another day for the library team at the science and education faculty to engage with the students and staff.
Organized by the Department of education FSE, a library team led by the Campus librarian Mr. Isaac Mukungu met the Masters students of Educational Psychology and Education management and leadership at Tororo study Centre.
The Librarian demonstrated to the masters student the common e learning platforms specifically Zoom and Google meet.
The Zoom application which provides video telephony and online chat services through a cloud-based peer-to-peer software platform used for video communications (Meetings) as well as messaging (Chat). The librarian demonstrated the use of the application to facilitate online learning and engagement.
Mr. Isaac Mukungu also demonstrated the open source app Google meet which is a video-communication service developed by Google to facilitate online engagement with its functionalities of video and audio as well as messaging. The librarian demonstrated how the app can be used to facilitate online meeting including classes.
The library team also introduced and demonstrated the Library management systems that would aid the students in their academic and research endeavors. A presentation and demonstration on electronic resources access for both subscribed and open access was done. Being weekend based postgraduate students with limited time at campus, the librarian encouraged them to use the OFFCAMPUS access portal to enable them gain access to subscribed electronic resources remotely. E books platforms including proquest eBook central and other open Access databases were also demonstrated.
Mr. Mukose Rogers demonstrated to the student their borrowing rights with koha library management system. He showed the access procedures for our physical books collection as well as course reserves.
The faculty present including Dr. Atibuni Dennis Zami and Dr. Suubi Margaret Stella emphasized the need for the students to practice the demonstrated systems and pathways.
