FSE LIBRARY ORIENTATION FOR THE FRESHMEN AND WOMEN OF 2022 2023 ACADEMIC YEAR 
As we welcomed the new students to the mighty Nagaongera, the home of the Faculty of Science and Education, the library team was at it again. The team converged in the library premises to orient the freshmen and women on the library systems and how best as students they would benefit from the library.
The Head librarian informed the students that the library was their gateway to academic excellence and research distinction. The Message was plain and simple to the students, “fall in love with library and you will enjoy the fruits of quality information access and use. 
November 23rd 2022 saw the entire library team take the freshmen and women through the library systems. 
Mr. Omalla Wilberforce emphasized the library rules and regulations as well as the Library website as the gateway to Busitema University library information resources. 
The students were introduced to the registration process with the library by Mr. Daari Noah who talked about the functionalities of the Busitema University Library management system Koha. He encouraged all new students to register with the library as only registered students would be in position to borrow and effectively use the library. 
The new students were also informed of their borrowing rights and their associated privileges by Mr. Mukose Rogers. He demonstrated how users can make use of their library accounts to monitor borrowing, fines, suggest book purchases, and as utilize the library catalogue to search the physical library. 
Ms. Musuya Winnie together with Ms. Nakanwagi Winfred talked to the students about the available electronic resources including both subscribed and open access including course reserves.  They informed the students that the library has a vast collection of such electronic resources in multitudes of disciplines. They demonstrated to the new students the access procedures for these resources including the OFF CAMPUS platform that allows access to subscribed resources remotely. 

The orientation was well attended by over 230 new students all in the library premises. 
The Campus Librarian thanked the students for turning up in big number to understand the role of the library in their academic journey during their time at Busitema University, Faculty of Science and Education. 
He also thanked the library team for the good presentations and promised that such demonstrations will keep coming to the students in their studies.
