Updated 2026 List of Journals Offering APC Waivers and Discounts

Busitema University Library informs researchers, academic staff and postgraduate students that an updated 2026 list of journals offering Article Processing Charge waivers or discounts is now available.

Article Processing Charges, commonly known as APCs, are fees that some publishers require authors to pay when publishing research articles through open-access journals. These charges can present a significant challenge to researchers, particularly those working in institutions and countries with limited research funding.

Through agreements coordinated by Electronic Information for Libraries, eligible authors in Uganda may publish in selected journals either without paying an APC or at a reduced cost. The updated list provides information on participating publishers, eligible journals, available discounts and the conditions researchers must meet to benefit from the waivers.

Members of the Busitema University academic community who are planning to publish research in 2026 are encouraged to consult the list before submitting their manuscripts. Researchers should carefully review the eligibility requirements and application procedures provided by each publisher, since waiver and discount arrangements may vary.
