Hon. John Mulimba's Profile

Hon. John Mulimba is the Minister of State for Foreign Affairs in charge of Regional Affairs, a position he has held since July 2021. He was born on 25th July 1972 in Butongi, Bulumbi Busia District.

He is an all-round politician with a background in business management, social development, marketing, human resource management, health and family education among other things. He holds a Master of Business Administration from Makerere University Business school, bachelor of Social Development degree from Makerere University, and bachelor of Marketing and Sales degree from University of Wales.

He was a member of the Board of Directors of the National Governmental Organization Bureau between 2018 and 2020, Member of the Busitema University Council between 2016-2020. In 2011-2016 he represented the people of Samia-Bugwe County North in the 9th Parliament of Uganda. While in the 9th Parliament he was a member on several committees including COSASE and Trade, Cooperatives and Industry.

Hon. Mulimba was also a Councilor for Bulumbi Sub- County in Busia District between 2001 and 2010. He also served as the National Resistance Movement Chairman for Busia District between 1997 and 2001. He is also a managing Director of Society Empowerment Network. Currently he is a member of the 11th Parliament of Uganda still representing the people of Samia Bugwe County North.

He personally has a strong desire to excel and achieve organizational growth. He is decisive, likes engaging for impact and promotes proactivity. He is a great risk taker and loves teamwork. Mrs. Rosemary Mutyabule's Profile

Mrs. Rosemary Mutyabule holds a Masters degree in Business Administration - Corporate Strategy and Economic Policy with Distinction, and an Upper Second Bachelor of Arts degree in Economics and Social Administration.

She is an Enterprise Development Specialist with versatile experience in small enterprise promotion and private sector development. Over the last 26 years, She had worked with dynamic private sector support institutions notably Uganda Investment Authority (10 years) and currently with Enterprise Uganda (16 years) at senior management level.

As a result of 26 years of experience, She has developed professional expertise in the delivery of business solutions to SMEs; mentoring, coaching and nurturing of MSMEs especially women; training of businesses in entrepreneurship and a range of business management skills; provision of business counseling and advisory services to SMEs; policy advocacy aimed at creating an enabling environment for small and medium enterprises; working with multiple stakeholders in SME development in both private and public sectors, including financial institutions; resource mobilization; design and implementation of projects; and managing donor funded projects including development of work plans and budgets.

 
 
 

Ms. Iryna Kuchma's Profile

Ms. Iryna Kuchma is the EIFL Open Access Programme Manager. Working in collaboration with libraries and library consortia in more than 50 countries in Africa, Asia and Europe, she advocates for open access to research results, facilitates the development and implementation of open science policies and infrastructures, and provides support and training.

Iryna co-chairs the OpenAIRE Community of Practice for Training Coordinators and the OpenAIRE Training and Support Standing Committee. She sits on the boards of Confederation of Open Access Repositories (COAR), the Global Sustainability Coalition for Open Science Services (SCOSS) and the Networked Digital Library of Thesis and Dissertations (NDLTD). She serves on the UNESCO Open Science Advisory Committee as an international expert. In addition, she serves on the advisory boards of the Community-led Open Publication Infrastructures Project (COPIM) and Open Access Week. Iryna is a member of the Coalition Publi.ca International Committee, and of the DSpace Community Advisory Team. She is an Associate Editor for the Directory of Open Access Journals (DOAJ). In 2013, Iryna received the Electronic Publishing Trust (EPT) for Development Annual Award, in recognition of her ‘efforts in the furtherance of open access to scholarly publications in the developing and emerging countries’.

Dr. Fulgensia Kamugisha Mbabazi's Profile

Dr. Mbabazi holds Ph.D in Mathematics (Computational), Pan African University for Basic Sciences, Technology and Innovation , Nairobi- Kenya

PGC in Project Planning and Management, College of Business and Management Sciences, Makerere University, Kampala-Uganda, MSC in Mathematics, Makerere University, Kampala-Uganda, BSC Ed (Physics & Mathematics), Mbarara University of Science and Technology, Mbarara-Uganda. She is a Senior Lecturer, Department of Mathematics, and Deputy Dean, Faculty of Science and Education, Busitema University; with a teaching experience of 11 years Mathematical modeling of infectious diseases, fluid dynamic modeling and Dynamical systems. She has sevaral publications in peer reviewed scientific journals. She serves as a mathematics consultant at Uganda Martyrs’ University and is a member of the Organization of Women in Science for the Developing World (OWSD), Uganda Mathematical Society (UMS), Eastern Africa Women in Basic Sciences (EANoWAS), and Uganda Women in Mathematical Sciences (UGAWOM).

Prof. Samson Rwahwire's Profile

Prof. Samson Rwahwire received an integrated Master’s Degree (BSc and MSc combined) in Mechanical Engineering with specialization in Aerospace Engineering from the Czech Technical University, Prague in 2008.

He worked as a part-time engineer at L.A. He obtained a PhD in Material Engineering from Technical University of Liberec . He worked as an Aircraft Engineer before joining academia as an Assistant Lecturer, and has grown through the ranks to the level of Associate Professor of Mechanical and Materials Engineering in the Department of Polymer, Textile and Industrial Engineering, Faculty of Engineering, Busitema University.

He was the first pioneer Ugandan head of department, Textile and Ginning Engineering. He has won a couple of awards for his pioneering work on barkcloth engineering composites and sound absorption materials. In the fields of construction composite materials, Prof Rwahwire is using his knowledge of material science and nanotechnology to modify bitumen for road construction utilizing green nanoscience as a crosslinker for plastic waste. He has been a Visiting Lecturer at the Technical University of Liberec; and was elected a Fellow of the Uganda National Academy of Sciences in 2018.

Currently working at Busitema University as Senior Lecturer Department of Natural Resource Economics and Dean Faculty of Natural Resources and Environmental Sciences.

She holds a PhD in Natural Resource Governance, a Masters in Sociology and a Bachelors in Social Sciences. Dr. Biira Saphina's Profile

Dr. Saphina Biira is the Deputy Director Quality Assurance and also doubles as a Senior Lecturer in the Department of Physics, Faculty of Science and Education, Busitema University.

She is an M&E Practitioner in Higher Education. She holds a PhD in Physics (Materials Science including Nuclear Energy Applications) from University of Pretoria, South Africa, a Master in Physics (Radiation & Environmental Physics) from Makerere University and a Bachelor of Science Education from Gulu University, Uganda. Saphina is a Senior Researcher with over 30 publications in peer reviewed journals and has reviewed for a number of journals in Materials Science and Radiation Sciences. She is an Executive Committee member of the African Light Source (AfLS). Saphina is also the founding Member and a Publicity and Outreach Coordinator for OWSD-National Chapter (Organisation of Women Scientists in the Developing World). She is currently the Country Team Leader for Women in Physics at the International Union of Pure and Applied Physics (IUPAP) and ICWIP.
