Mr. Isala is a qualified Librarian by profession and has worked in various Academic Instituions, starting as an Assistant Librarian at the former Uganda Polytechnic Kyambogo for 13 years (1992-2005), rising through the ranks to become the Ag. Chief Librarian. Thereafter, he worked in Gulu University as Librarian I for 2 years before joining Busitema University. He became the first University Librarian of Busitema University working for 10 years (2010-2020). He is currently working as the Senior Librarian at Maritime Institute, Faculty of Natural Resources Economics and Environmental Sciences, Namasagali Campus, Busitema University.

Mr. Isala has served in various capacities like being the Vice Chair, Consortium of Uganda University Libraries (CUUL), 2010-2014 and later Chairperson, CUUL, 2013-2014.
