The Vice-Chancellor of Busitema University, Prof. Paul Waako, signed a Memorandum of Understanding with Private Sector Foundation Uganda's Chief Executive Officer Mr. Stephen Asiimwe on 1st September 2022. The MoU seeks to establish mutual cooperation with Busitema University to recruit and employ graduates under the Work Readiness Program (WRP) of the Skills and Governance Plus (SG+) project implemented by the PSFU. The MoU was commenced on 1st September 2022 and remains in force for an initial period of six (6) months, and thereafter may be extended if deemed necessary by PSFU. The MoU is implemented by Dr. Fredrick Kiwuwa Lugya, the Busitema University Librarian and the onsite supervisor to the Graduate Fellows.
What is PSFU and the WRP of the SG+?
PSFU is an umbrella body for the private sector made up of 230 Business Associations, Corporate bodies and the major Public Sector Agencies that support private sector growth and has its office at Plot 43 Nakasero Road P. O. Box 7683, Kampala, Uganda. With funding from the European Union, PSFU in partnership with Enabel seeks to address gaps in the employability and productivity of young graduates from Universities and other institutions of higher learning through a Work Readiness Program (WRP) of the Skills and Governance Plus (SG+) Project. Through a memorandum of understanding, PSFU seeks to establish mutual cooperation with organizations to recruit graduates as their employees to gain workplace hands-on experience. What is Work Readiness Program (WRP)
The Work Readiness Program (WRP) is a program implemented by Enabel and the Private Sector Foundation Uganda (PSFU) to enhance the employability and productivity of young graduates from universities and other institutions of higher learning. The WRP supports recent university graduates to acquire practical work experience and boost soft skills through attachments to jobs in the sectors of manufacturing including Agro-processing, Construction, Tourism and ICT. The program will help the graduates apply the knowledge acquired in their course of study, while acquiring practical skills and competencies required by employers, for increased employability.
